Wedding Invitation Animation

This is a little something special I like to do for the couples for whom I produce their wedding video -- a little animation made from their own wedding invitation, to include in their wedding day video presentation on DVD.

Two previous animations may be seen in my 2014 reel, but this is my most ambitious to date, though it's actually simple. The ambitious part came in the cutting out of virtually every asset on the invitation, and connecting an appropriate animation with it. The happy couple really enjoyed it so, mission accomplished :)

As always, it's best to watch this as large as possible.

In the true production, this is set to the song "Fly Me To The Moon (In Other Words)" by Frank Sinatra. YouTube blocked the music and so I found a reasonably suitable musical piece from their free collection.

My Newest Reel

Rather than being the typical quick view of video clips with a bed of music, this reel also includes descriptions of what I've done in each production instance, including a fairly comprehensive outline of my wedding video service.

Flying Eyeball

That's about the size of it.  I drew all of the individual parts of the creature on blank index cards, using coloured pencils; scanned them; opened them up in Photoshop and trimmed them.  I probably should've drawn out two different wings to give it more, but it was just for the sake of doing a little animation practice so I just duplicated the one and mirrored it for the other side.  Then I animated each part, in After Effects, using the Puppet Warp Tool on the talons and tail.

This is a previous assignment that I forgot to post, an "infographic" for my Media Ethics class.

We were to choose one of the five media conglomerates, and in using several legitimate news sources, to display graphically the following information about the company:

The company's "ownership map".

Include the Board of Directors.

Describe any political bias.

Social responsibility; how "green" the company is; charitable donations.

How family friendly the company is.

Any FCC violations

The latest financial report

The controlling interests of the company, including non-media ownership.

I chose VIACOM.

Project Final - Visual Design

My final project for Visual Design -- a movie poster.

The topics were our choice, but had to be done with our own photos, with the possible use of some public domain images.  There were a number of specific things that needed to be included in the poster, including layer styles, masks, etc.

There are nine separate photos in this final image.  The little girl is my grand daughter.  The turtle was from a shot I took at Roger Williams Park Zoo.  The turtle cannot really fly.
