Wedding Invitation Animation

This is a little something special I like to do for the couples for whom I produce their wedding video -- a little animation made from their own wedding invitation, to include in their wedding day video presentation on DVD.

Two previous animations may be seen in my 2014 reel, but this is my most ambitious to date, though it's actually simple. The ambitious part came in the cutting out of virtually every asset on the invitation, and connecting an appropriate animation with it. The happy couple really enjoyed it so, mission accomplished :)

As always, it's best to watch this as large as possible.

In the true production, this is set to the song "Fly Me To The Moon (In Other Words)" by Frank Sinatra. YouTube blocked the music and so I found a reasonably suitable musical piece from their free collection.

My Newest Reel

Rather than being the typical quick view of video clips with a bed of music, this reel also includes descriptions of what I've done in each production instance, including a fairly comprehensive outline of my wedding video service.

DSLR Introduction Test

Assignment to acquaint us with the Canon T3i DSLR; shot with the standard 18-55 lens, only with available light; 7 shots. We shot it in 24fps. The original assignment was to have no sound, since sound wasn't a factor for learning how to use the camera. My partner was Dennis Cabral. Music is from freemusicarchive.org.  All scenes shot in the library at New England Institute of Technology. Special thanks to the head librarian for giving us permission to shoot the card catalogue.

My First Wedding Video

My first* wedding video. My partner in this venture is Ryan Sherwood of Sure Would Films and Blue Lobster Productions (along with his partner Max). We're looking forward to two more weddings we have lined up (so far).  I'm guessing we can only get better as time goes on.  Ryan did all of the editing of this trailer, and only consulted with me after an original rough draft which is nearly indistinguishable from the final result (that's how good his original was).  I do notice a little bit of a lull at a particular point, but other than that it came out rather nicely, especially for a first try. Most of the footage is admittedly Ryans, as my camera was used mainly for the constant during the ceremony.  Ryan and Max shot with Canon T3i's and I with a Canon XA10. It was edited with Adobe Premier Pro.

The bride and groom Grace and Anthony were fabulous! And the venue, Linden Place, Bristol, Rhode Island was very nice. The Lord provided a lovely day.

*Technically it's my second, as I recorded my stepdaughter's wedding, but I did so only with a Kodak Playsport mini-cam, and it was done before I had any formal training in video and editing.
